I used to be a straightforward business coach. Strategy, logistics, decision-making — the stuff that looks like the problem.

Then I started noticing something. About 80% of what I was actually solving for clients wasn't business at all. It was emotional. Relational. The business was just where it showed up.

I know that firsthand, because I lived it before I understood it. I've been through several business failures — different circumstances each time, different reasons on paper. But there was always one thing in common: me. I remember sitting in the shower after one of them, completely flatlined. Not just by what it cost the business — by what it cost my partners, my closest relationships, myself.

Here's what I've come to believe, the hard way: the logistics and decision-making in a business are the light work. They get easy once the personal work is actually done. Most of the confusion we carry in business isn't coming from the business — it's coming from us. Even "the grind" itself is usually less about ambition and more about escape. An attempt at connection, aimed in the wrong direction.

But when you get connected to yourself, the work gets easier. More enjoyable. More effective — with less time and energy spent forcing it.

That's the work I do now. Not logistics first. You, first.

A Little History.

Like a lot of you, I've done a lot.

I graduated from KSU with a double major in political science and psychology. Taught briefly in Brooklyn. Moved to Redding, CA, where I ran more "ventures" than was probably healthy — helped start an entrepreneur community called On The Beam, a publishing company called Slingstone Media, and launched a life and business consulting practice about fifteen years ago.

I've since landed in Nashville (Music City), where I live along the Cumberland River. These days I do some commercial brokering, but mostly I meet with entrepreneurs, founders, and leaders about their business, emotional, and relational health.

A few things you should know about me: I like jigsaw puzzles, but I rarely add the last piece. I eat healthy, except for goldfish crackers — thanks for that addiction, Mom. I like talking on the phone while on a rowing machine. And I'm a big fan of dogs and cats, especially the shy or angry ones I have to win over.

There's more where that came from — more experiences, more peculiarities — and I bring all of it into the work I do with you. I want you to feel completely comfortable being yourself here. Bring your biggest issues. Share your biggest victories. This is a place to get real and navigate life's inevitable obstacles, together.

I'm on your team. Or at least, I'd like to be.
